Best Monitor Light Bars in 2024

In today’s world, where we all spend countless hours in front of computer screens. Having the right lighting is more important than you might think.

That’s where monitor light bars come in, and I’m excited to tell you all about the best ones you can find in 2024.

These lightbars fit neatly on top of your screen and help reduce eye strain, making long gaming or work sessions much more comfortable.

I’ve spent some time researching and testing various models, and I’m excited to share what I’ve found to be the best monitor light bar.

Whether you’re a gamer, a work-from-home professional, or someone who enjoys late-night browsing, there’s something on this list for you.

BenQ ScreenBar Halo

Best Overall

Starting the list with our top pick, The BenQ ScreenBar Halo!  A perfect monitor light bar that ticks all the boxes in terms of design, functionality, and ease of use.

The build of this light bar is solid as it’s made from aluminum and high-quality plastic materials.

It has three different light modes: front light, backlight, and both at once – for different preferences and needs.

The front light as we know, gives direct lighting on your desk. But what sets the Halo apart is its backlight feature; it casts a soft light on the wall behind your monitor making the viewing experience more comfortable.

Then comes auto mode, which is quite impressive! It uses built-in sensors that detect the lighting around you and automatically select appropriate settings for your space. So you don’t have to touch anything in order to get perfect illumination every time.

Also, they’ve included a button on the wireless controller that lets you save your favorite light mode. That way you can switch back to your fav mode instantly instead of cycling through everything, which is nice and time-saving.

When it comes to adjustability, the light bar beam is highly adjustable. There are no problems in changing the light’s direction however you want it.

Usually, people are concerned about glare or reflection of light on their monitor. The Halo takes care of that with its asymmetrical optical design – it directs the light downwards onto your desk without hitting your screen.

Talking about compatibility, So far as we know, it’s compatible with most computer monitors including curved ones.

With most other light bars you gotta choose between either attaching a screen bar or webcam. But not with the Halo – here you can have both at once.

If you purchase BenQ IdeaCam, it fits right on top of the monitor light bar and integrates seamlessly with the Halo.

In case you already have a webcam and want to attach that one, no worries. There’s an option to add a Halo Webcam Accessory Bundle for an extra $20 which allows easy attachment of a webcam to the light bar.

Remember this won’t work with BenQ ideaCam. If you buy IdeaCam there’s no need for extra accessories as it’s already compatible with the Halo.

Now there are some downsides though.

First, If you’re using an Apple studio display this may block your camera.

Secondly, It’s really great that there are tons of little steps (that’s a very good thing), so you have to turn the wheel quite a few times to go through all of them. but what we’ve experienced is that the lowest setting is still a little too bright at night.

But still, none of these are dealbreakers and overall the BenQ ScreenBar is an awesome choice!

  • Three different light modes
  • Auto mode for intelligent brightness/temperature adjustment
  • Highly adjustable light bar
  • Compatible with different monitors including curved ones
  • Option to add a webcam attachment

  • Premium price compared to others
  • The lowest settings may still be too bright at night
  • May block camera on Apple Studio displays

Xiaomi Mi Computer Monitor Light Bar

Editor’s Choice

Now moving on to the Xiaomi Mi Computer Monitor Light Bar. Our best overall pick because of its premium quality, features, and affordability.

That’s almost as good as BenQ Halo, but guess what, it cost only around half of it!

When I first got my hands on this product I was amazed by its build. This light bar has a metal construction thus giving it a sleek and extremely strong feel that screams out premium quality.

It comes with a wireless controller that allows you to adjust color temperature and brightness rapidly with just a simple twist of the puck wheel. Quite smooth though!

The light bar is easy to install. Just place it on top of your monitor and snap it on.

Adjusting the light is super simple too, just twist it to a desired angle and done.

The light bar fits well on most monitors, even on curved displays. However, with super thick monitors, it clamps on but not as perfectly as with the thinner ones.

One minor downside I’ve noticed with the wireless controller (puck) is its tendency to collect fingerprints quite easily.

Given that this light bar is priced at half the cost of the Halo bar, I was genuinely impressed. It offers a very premium quality, includes a wireless controller, and provides an experience that’s almost identical to the Halo, except for the level of backlighting.

All in all, the Xiaomi Mi Computer Monitor Light Bar represents remarkable value for money, offering premium features and build quality at an accessible price point.

  • Premium built quality
  • Affordable price
  • Wireless control
  • The angle of adjustment is good
  • The light bar remembers brightness and color settings when turned off/on

  • The remote control puck collects fingerprints
  • No controls on the light bar itself – must use a remote
  • Light can’t point directly forward to use as a light for video conference calls

Quntis Monitor Light Bar PRO+

Highly Adjustable

Now let’s talk about the Quntis Monitor Light Bar PRO+, this one caught my eye for its very reasonable price point.

Like many of you, I always appreciate when a product combines affordability with quality, and the Quntis light bar does just that.

It is made of aluminum and high-quality plastic hence giving it a solid feel without being too heavy.

The adjustability is what sets this light bar apart from all others as it suits perfectly to people who use curved monitors.

It’s designed to be highly adjustable whereby users can adjust the light bar angle up to 45 degrees. This is something I really appreciate since it allows me to position the light exactly where I need it.

The inclusion of adjustment covers (those little plastic pieces), is a thoughtful touch. Although I’ll admit they can be a bit fiddly to install. Most set-ups will not require these; nevertheless, it’s great being able to use them if needed.

The mounting mechanism doesn’t seem as secure as some other higher-priced models.

It’s also nice that Quntis included two hex keys in the package just in case you need to tighten the hinges later on if they loosen.

It comes with a wireless remote, which allows for easy adjustments to the brightness and temperature settings.

Also, there is an auto-dimming mode plus timing functionality included that adds more convenience and customization that I didn’t expect at this price point. The light bar also has a photo-sensitive mode which is pretty handy in automatically adjusting to the room’s brightness.

The manual was a lifesaver because I’ll be honest, this light bar isn’t the easiest thing to set up.

All in all Quntis Monitor Light Bar PRO+ is really great value. The performance has some downsides during installation but when combined with its high degree of adaptability and convenience of using remote control, it becomes a nice option for anyone who needs to upgrade their working lighting without spending much.

  • Comes with adjustment covers (little plastic pieces)
  • Auto-dimming mode and timing function
  • Photo-sensitive mode
  • Affordable price point

  • The mounting mechanism is not as good as BenQ, and Xiaomi
  • The light bar may not be easy to setup for some users

Baseus Monitor Light Bar

Best Budget Option

If you’re in the market for an affordable monitor light bar option, the Baseus Monitor Light Bar might just be what you need. This product stands out for its sleek design and exceptional value.

It has three color temperatures to choose from – warm white, neutral white, and cool white. This variety is perfect whether you’re working during the day or night. I found that the light bar offers a wide range of brightness levels.

At its dimmest, it’s perfect for reading at night without straining your eyes. And when you need it brighter during the day, it lights up your workspace adequately, even with natural light coming in from the windows.

While it doesn’t have a wireless remote, the touch control panel is straightforward to use. Adjusting the brightness might take a little getting used to since the brightness changes continuously as you hold the button, rather than stepping up or down with each touch.

However, once you get the hang of it, it’s not a big deal. One of the things I appreciate most about this light bar is that it doesn’t cause any glare on the monitor, and the light is directed in such a way that it doesn’t shine in your eyes, either.

The clamp mount, although a bit tight, doesn’t cause any distortion on the screen, which I initially thought might be an issue, but it turned out to be fine.

In all, the Baseus Monitor Light Bar is a solid choice for anyone looking for efficient, eye-friendly lighting for their workspace at a price that’s hard to beat.

  • Affordable price
  • Adjustable brightness/color temperatures
  • The touch control panel is easy to use
  • Does not cause glare on the monitor

  • No wireless remote for convenience
  • Brightness adjustment may take some time to get used to

ONWAY Curved Monitor Light Bar

Best for Curved Monitors

I recently had the chance to try out the ONWAY Curved Monitor Light Bar, and I must say, it’s an exciting option for those with curved monitors. Traditionally, monitor light bars sit straight across, which works fine for flat screens. However, if you’ve got a curved monitor, you might wonder how a straight bar is going to look.

Honestly, it looks alright, but nothing beats the way a curved light bar on a curved screen appears.

The ONWAY model is designed specifically for this, and it fits wonderfully, no matter what type of monitor you have—curved, flat, irregular, or even thicker bezels. Its adjustable clip ensures a snug fit across the board.

What I like about this light bar though is its versatility. It features not only a wireless puck for easy control but also manual controls for those who prefer a hands-on approach. This auto-dimming feature was also another great selling point for me as well—it’s equipped with an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness so that it smoothly blends with the lighting condition of your room and trust me, it’s quite cool!

However, there’s a bit of room for improvement in terms of adjustability. If there was a way to adjust the angle of the bar itself, it could enhance the user experience by aligning the light direction more precisely with one’s personal preference.

To sum up, The ONWAY Curved Monitor Light Bar is an excellent choice if you are looking to match your curved monitor at home with an affordable yet effective lighting solution. It has thoughtful design and functionality with slight room for improvement in terms of adjustability.

  • Adjustable with a variety of monitor types
  • Curved design for aesthetic appeal
  • Versatile with both wireless and manual controls
  • Auto-dimming capability based on room lighting

  • Limited adjustability in terms of angle
